Author Guidelines

Author guidelines:

Authors are requested to read the following guidelines carefully before submitting a manuscript.

Types of Manuscripts

The journal considers:

• Original Research Articles
• Review Articles
• Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses
• Perspectives
• Case Reports/Case Series
• Letters to the Editor
• Editorials 

Manuscript Preparation: Manuscripts should be prepared in clear and concise English and submitted in Microsoft Word format accepted by the online submission system. The manuscript should generally include:

• Title page
• Abstract
• Keywords
• Introduction
• Methods
• Results
• Discussion
• Conclusion
• Declarations
• References
• Tables and Figures, where applicable                                                                                                    The title should be concise and informative. Abbreviations should be defined at their first use.

Abstract and Keywords                                                                                                                                      Original Research Articles should include a structured abstract covering the Background, Objectives, Methods, Results and Conclusion.
Authors should provide 3–6 keywords, preferably using terms consistent with Medical Subject Headings (MeSH).

Ethical Requirements

Research involving human participants must comply with applicable ethical standards and should have approval from an appropriate Ethics Committee/Institutional Review Board where required.
Informed consent should be obtained wherever applicable.

Authors should provide details of ethical approval in the manuscript.

Authorship                                                                                                                                                           All listed authors should have made substantial contributions to the work and should approve the final manuscript.
The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the journal and should ensure that all authors have approved the submission.
Changes in authorship after submission require approval from all authors and the Editorial Office.

Originality and Plagiarism                                                                                                                                               Manuscripts submitted to IJPSM must be original and must not have been published previously or be under consideration by another journal.
               Plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabrication, falsification and other forms of research or publication misconduct are not acceptable. Manuscripts will be screened for plagiarism. The author should submit the plagiarism certificate with the manuscript.

References                                                                                                                                                                        References should be formatted according to the Vancouver referencing style. Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all references cited in the manuscript.

General Instructions

• References should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they first appear in the text.
• The same reference should retain the same reference number throughout the manuscript whenever it is cited again.
• Reference numbers should be presented as Arabic numerals in superscript, without brackets.
  Example: Previous studies have reported similar findings.¹
• Reference numbers should be placed after full stops and commas and before colons and semicolons, as applicable.
  Example: Previous studies have reported similar findings.¹
  Example: Several factors have been identified:¹
  Example: Previous studies have identified several risk factors;¹
• When citing multiple references:
  • Use a hyphen to indicate a continuous range of references.
    Example: Several studies have reported similar findings.¹⁻⁵
  • Use commas to separate non-consecutive references.
    Example: Similar findings have been reported previously.⁶,⁸,¹⁰
  • For a combination of consecutive and non-consecutive references, use both formats as appropriate.
    Example: ¹⁻³,⁶,⁹⁻¹¹
• Author names:
  • If a reference has six or fewer authors, all authors should be listed.
  • If a reference has more than six authors, list the first three authors followed by “et al.”
  • Et al. means “and others” and should not be used when there are six or fewer authors.
  • Authors' names should be separated by a comma followed by one space. A full stop should be placed after the name of the last author before the title of the article/book.
• Journal names: Use the official National Library of Medicine (NLM) abbreviations for journal titles. Do not use unofficial or self-created abbreviations.
• References should be checked against the original source to ensure that author names, article titles, journal names, year, volume, issue, page numbers, and other bibliographic details are accurate.

Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of their references.

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures should be numbered consecutively and cited in the text.

They should have appropriate titles or legends and should not unnecessarily duplicate information present in the main text.

Declarations

Authors should disclose:

• Funding
• Conflict of interest
• Ethical approval
• Informed consent
• Author contributions
• Data availability

Artificial Intelligence

Authors who use generative AI and AI-assisted technologies (AI tools) in the writing of a manuscript, production of images or graphical elements of the paper, or in the collection and analysis of data, ​must be transparent in disclosing in the manuscript which AI tool was used and how it was used. Authors are fully responsible for the content of their submitted manuscript, including any parts produced by an AI tool, and are thus liable for any breach of publication ethics. The specific AI tool used, and its purpose should be described in the Methods or Acknowledgments section. 

Submissions

Manuscripts should be submitted through the journal's online submission system. Submission of a manuscript implies that:

1. The work is original.
2. The manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere.
3. All authors have approved the manuscript.
4. The manuscript complies with the journal's ethical and publication policies.
