New AIIMS Institutes: A catalyst for reducing regional healthcare disparities in India

Introduction: AIIMS plays a crucial role in addressing regional disparities in healthcare infrastructure across India. It is essential for advancing public health, promoting equitable development, enhancing medical education, and informing health policy. Objective: This paper analyzes the role of new AIIMS institutes throughout India as a strategic measure to mitigate regional healthcare disparities. This study analyzes historical disparities in healthcare infrastructure, the goals of the AIIMS initiative, and its significant effects on improving access to quality medical care in underserved areas. The research identifies significant challenges, such as delays in implementation and sustainability concerns, and offers recommendations to improve the initiative's effectiveness. Methodology: The present study uses a literature review methodology, synthesizing information from government reports, peer-reviewed articles, and policy documents to examine the AIIMS initiative and its effects on reducing regional healthcare disparities in India. Findings: The study's findings suggest that the AIIMS expansion could substantially improve healthcare access in various regions of India; however, several administrative and budgetary challenges must be resolved to ensure its long-term sustainability. Conclusion: The expansion of AIIMS institutes has the potential to enhance healthcare access in underserved regions of India; however, addressing administrative and budgetary challenges is crucial for ensuring sustainable success.
